Ruche géante au Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew

Huit mois après sa présentation à Milan Expo 2015, la ruche géante du pavillon UK est installée dans le Royal Botanic Gardens à Kew, proche de Londres.

Wolfgang Buttress est l’artiste designer de la Ruche. The Hive en anglais. Un projet élaboré en collaboration avec BDP, Simmonds Studio et Stage One pour le pavillon UK de Milan Expo 2015. C’est le premier pavillon britannique à être réutilisé après un tel événement international, qui malheureusement dépense des millions souvent pour les six mois d’ouverture…

Comme nous avons longuement détaillé le projet l’an dernier sur Light ZOOM Lumière, Jean-Yves Soëtinck et moi-même, je vous propose un tour de l’œuvre dans son nouvel environnement et de montrer quelques photos des ruches. L’arrière-plan des autres pavillons a changé. Le jardin est aménagé à l’anglaise et le ciel est aussi bleu qu’en Italie !

The Hive à côté de Londres

Depuis le 18 juin dernier, il est implanté dans les Jardins Botaniques Royaux de Kew dans un cadre végétal.

« Il est fantastique de voir The Hive revenir à la vie à Kew. Les jardins offrent l’environnement idéal pour accueillir cette expérience multi- sensorielle qui intègre l’art, la science et l’architecture de paysage ».

The Hive at the dusk

Au crépuscule, la Ruche devient luminescente. Le cube perçu de jour laisse apparaître une sphère à la nuit tombée. Les abeilles butinent encore à l’intérieur et produisent le miel. Protégeons-les !

Ruches et abeilles

La pollinisation des plantes par les abeilles est essentielle pour notre survie sur Terre. Le Royal Botanic Gardens de Kew éduque le public à cette relation spéciale entre les abeilles et les plantes. Il possède des ruches individuelles avec leurs alvéoles construites en cire par les abeilles ouvrières afin de stocker le miel et le pollen ou les œufs et les larves. Le bon miel vient d’ici, pas de l’industrie du fast-food.

Guide pour visiter

L’accès est facile depuis le centre de Londres en métro. Descente à la station Kew Gardens sur la District Line — Richmond Branch et London Overground, en zone 3. C’est à 400 mètres de l’entrée du jardin.

Si vous venez en voiture ou en bus, voici l’itinéraire à suivre.

  • Du 2 juillet au 30 octobre 2016, un programme d’activités intéressantes est proposé : visites, conférences, essais et plus…
  • Visite tardive de The Hive : les 1er, 15 et 29 septembre, de 18h30 à 21h30.
